Join a dynamic and forward-thinking ENT team delivering high-quality care across Northampton and Kettering. We're offering a substantive full-time Consultant Head & Neck Robotic/Thyroid post, primarily based at Northampton General Hospital, with opportunities for cross-site collaboration. This is your chance to be part of a regional Head & Neck Cancer and Thyroid service serving nearly 1 million people, with access to cutting‑edge robotic surgery, weekly MDTs, and strong academic links with Leicester Royal Infirmary. With a combined catchment of over 2.5 million and a commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and flexible working, this is a unique opportunity to shape the future of specialist ENT care.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide expert care in Head and Neck oncology, including robotic and thyroid surgery, as part of a regional multidisciplinary team based at Northampton General Hospital. Responsibilities include managing complex cancer cases through established MDTs, participating in major surgical procedures, contributing to service development across NGH, KGH, and Milton Keynes, and engaging in academic collaboration with Leicester Royal Infirmary. The role also involves supporting inpatient and outpatient ENT services, with flexibility for cross‑site working to meet service needs.

Person Specification
QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING
- Completion of Specialty Training (CST or equivalent) or within 6 months of achieving it in relevant specialty
- MD, PhD or other higher degree
- Education / Medical Education Qualification (preferably at Masters level)
Skills
- Effective team worker with demonstrable leadership skills & experience
- Open surgery, minimally invasive surgical and Transoral techniques
- Transoral robotic surgery (TORS)
- Surgeon with experience in the da Vinci system & training on the use of the da Vinci System
TEACHING / AUDIT / QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
- Experience of Audit and Quality Improvement
- Experience of Teaching Junior Staff
- Experience of Undergraduate Teaching
- Experience in Curriculum development and delivery
MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE
