The predicted salary is between 42000 - 60000 £ per year.
This is an established post to allow a suitable candidate to embark on a one year fixed term Training in General Ophthalmology. The post will ideally suit a forward-thinking individual with the desire to improve General Ophthalmology. A desire to participate in research and clinical audit is essential. It is assumed that the candidate will already have broad-based ophthalmology training, and this will be essential to managing general ophthalmic problems.
Cataract surgery will be provided to maintain phacoemulsification skills, but a level of proficiency will be expected as this is primarily a paediatric firm. The employing Trust is Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust. The post is covered by the Terms and Conditions of Service of Hospital Medical and Dental Staff (England and Wales), as amended from time to time. The contract is for a fixed term of 1 year.
The successful candidate will be expected to have at least five years of accredited basic general ophthalmic training to the level of OST 3 or equivalent and will be expected to have passed MRCOphth or equivalent. The successful candidate will be required to maintain registration with the General Medical Council.
The successful candidate will also be required to reside within 10 miles of the Northampton General Hospital, to maintain his/her residence in contact with the public telephone service, unless specific approval for alternative arrangements is approved by the employing Trust.
