In this role, you will take full personal, professional and legal responsibility for your own specialist caseload, working independently while seeking support and supervision when required. You will carry out detailed communication and swallowing assessments using both formal and informal tools, including perceptual analysis and in‑depth language assessment, to support accurate clinical decision‑making and contribute to differential diagnosis and prognosis.

Working closely with residents, families and carers, you will provide clear and compassionate explanations of complex communication, voice and swallowing difficulties, ensuring individuals feel supported and understood. You will play a key role in managing swallowing programmes, including those involving working collaboratively with nursing teams, kitchen staff and visiting dietitians to ensure safe swallowing practice and appropriate nutritional intake. You will also assess the need for communication aids and support residents and carers in their safe and effective use.
