What you’ll be doing:
- Lead compliance & best practice
- Ensure adherence to UK health & safety legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
- Maintain and evolve policies, procedures, and safe systems of work
- Act as the central point of contact for all H&S matters
- Drive risk management
- Carry out risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and workplace inspections
- Identify hazards and implement practical control measures
- Keep risk registers up to date and ensure actions are followed through
- Build a strong safety culture
- Deliver engaging training, inductions, and toolbox talks
- Promote awareness and accountability across all levels
- Encourage a positive, proactive approach to workplace safety
- Own incident management
- Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents
- Produce clear reports with actionable recommendations
- Ensure compliance with RIDDOR reporting requirements
- Support continuous improvement
- Conduct internal audits and monitor performance through KPIs
- Provide insights and reports to leadership
- Help shape and enhance long-term safety strategy
- Collaborate across the business
- Work closely with teams, managers, and contractors
- Support permit-to-work systems and contractor safety
- Liaise with external authorities and insurers where needed
What you’ll bring:
- Essential:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation
- Proven experience in a similar role
- Clear communication skills and a practical mindset
- Attention to detail with strong problem-solving ability
- Desirable:
- IOSH membership (Tech or Grad)
- Experience with audits and incident investigations
- Familiarity with ISO 45001 or similar frameworks
- Experience within a production or operational environment
