Job Overview:
As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. If you have considerable experience teaching Key Stage 5, the school is willing to include this in your timetable. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic educator with strong knowledge of the English curriculum, capable of inspiring students to achieve their full potential. You will collaborate with the English Department to develop engaging and innovative lessons tailored to a wide range of abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective English lessons in line with the national curriculum.
- Assess, monitor, and record student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their academic development.
- Develop and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active learning and student participation.
- Prepare students for GCSE examinations, ensuring they are fully equipped to achieve their target grades.
- Contribute to the wider school community through participation in extracurricular activities, school events, and ongoing professional development.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practices, resources, and strategies for effective teaching and learning.
- Attend and contribute to department meetings, parent evenings, and other school events as required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of educational developments and best practices in English education.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification; a degree is the minimum requirement.
- A degree in a relevant subject (English Language or Literature).
- Previous experience teaching English at Key Stages 3 and 4; experience with Key Stage 5 is desirable.
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for teaching English.
