Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking a Building Services Supervisor to lead the day‑to‑day supervision of the Engineering Day and Shift Teams.
Job Overview
The Building Services Supervisor (BSS) will be responsible for the successful delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across mechanical, electrical building services and building fabric. The role is critical in ensuring maximum asset uptime and that client operations are consistently supported. Reporting into the Technical Services Manager (TSM) and Site Lead, the BSS will play a key role in service delivery, compliance and continuous improvement. The position requires a hands‑on engineering supervisor who will champion health and safety, lead engineering teams on site and maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers and the wider engineering community.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, oversee and carry out PPM, reactive maintenance and emergency works in line with contract requirements
- Act as the day‑to‑day lead for both Shift Engineers and Day Engineers, reporting into the TSM and Site Lead
- Ensure all planned and reactive tasks are completed efficiently and to the required standards
- Manage subcontractors as required, including overseeing specialist works and Safe Systems of Work (SSoWs)
- Champion health and safety, supporting compliance with HASAWA and all relevant legislation and promoting a zero‑accident culture
- Complete and maintain all required documentation, records and quality assurance procedures
- Deliver toolbox talks, audit engineering works and ensure compliance with governance standards
- Support engineering leadership with improvements to SOPs, EOPs and technical solutions, including limited project support
Person Specification
- Proven leadership experience within engineering operations
- Electrical and/or Mechanical qualifications
- Suitably qualified in an engineering discipline
- Strong experience in engineering operations within critical environments
- Previous experience supervising engineering teams within FM, banking or property‑related environments
- Proactive approach with strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Sound knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices
- NEBOSH or IOSH certification (desirable or required depending on contract)
- Willingness to undertake Authorised Person (AP) training
- Full UK driving licence
