Modification Technician – (Trains)

Contract Duration: 6 Months\’ Minimum

Shifts: 12 hour days / nights 0700-1900, 1900-0700

Pay Rates: Β£26.56 for the first 12 weeks (Umbrella), then increasing to Β£27.99 per hour (Umbrella)

Β£21.32 per hour PAYE

Your Responsibilities:

Working as part of the Engineering team, this role involves mechanical production duties such as gearboxes, motor repairs, and production of rolling stock assets.

  • Supporting the completion of repairs, modifications, and commissioning within a well-equipped rolling stock depot.
  • Undertaking modifications of assigned rolling stock to meet the requirements of the modification and production plan, with minimal supervision.
  • Performing other duties as required within the scope of modification and production work.
  • Following engineering instructions and drawings, adhering to specified methods and tooling.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Relevant experience in an engineering environment.
  • Accurate record-keeping of actions and operations per procedures.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, including bio-hazards, manual handling, and COSHH.
  • Ability to use a laptop for diagnostic purposes and fault finding.
  • Ability to interpret technical publications.
  • Care for tools, equipment, and PPE.
