Overview
The Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is a newer, fast‑growing part of the RAC, delivering planned, structured repair and servicing directly to members – from their driveway to their workplace car park. The role is based on a scheduled list of jobs, with the time, tools, and support you need to do quality work. There are no emergency callouts or roadside recoveries; instead you focus on well‑planned, pre‑booked work.
Responsibilities
- Routine servicing
- Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment
- In‑depth repairs normally completed in a workshop
- Member advice and recommendations based on your inspection
- Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards
Requirements
- Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles
- A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points
