We are currently working with a well-established engineering business based in Milton Keynes who are looking to appoint a Mechanical Design Engineer due to continued growth and increasing project demand. This is an opportunity to join a business specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke engineering systems supplied into a range of highly regulated and technically demanding industries.
The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of bespoke heavy-duty electrical enclosures, working across the full project lifecycle from concept through to delivery. You’ll work closely with the Design Manager and wider team to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high technical standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Design of bespoke electrical enclosures using 3D CAD
- Consideration of ingress protection, vibration, temperature, and structural stress
- Modification and improvement of existing designs to meet new project requirements
- Supporting the full product lifecycle from concept through to delivery
- Liaising with clients to understand requirements and ensure expectations are met
- Ensuring designs follow best practice from a technical and commercial perspective
Requirements
Essential
- Experience in mechanical design of bespoke or engineered products
- Proficient in Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks
- Experience designing sheet metal, folded or welded steel structures
- HNC / HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
- Strong communication skills
Desirable
- Experience with heavy-duty enclosures
- Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience
