The Role
Due to continued successful growth, we have an excellent permanent opportunity to join our Fortem team at Orbit Housing as a Carpenter Multi Skilled Trade in our Responsive Repairs team.
The Carpenter Multi Trade will be responsible for most aspects of property maintenance and repairs to social housing properties, utilizing core carpentry skills and basic plumbing. You will cover a patch based in Northamptonshire and the surrounding area, so travel is essential.
Core Hours: Monday β Friday, 8:00 am β 4:30 pm.
As a Carpenter Multi Trade, you will ensure all work is completed to a high standard with minimal supervision. The role involves taking ownership of work, aiming for \βFirst time Fix\β on all jobs, operating within health and safety guidelines, and staying within budget and time parameters, while maintaining courteous and professional interactions with tenants.
The Customer
Fortem\βs contract with Orbit Housing covers over 17,000 properties across Stratford-upon-Avon, Leamington Spa, Coventry, Nuneaton, Northampton, Milton Keynes, and Bedford. We manage multiple workstreams, including Repairs & Maintenance, Voids, Capital Works, and Re-Roofing. Duties and Responsibilities
- Completing carpentry and basic plumbing repairs for all properties as per specifications, within designated turnaround times.
- Advising supervisors when other trades are required.
- Collaborating with other operatives to complete projects.
- Recording and submitting accurate data using relevant business systems and electronic devices.
- Providing excellent customer service to clients.
- Planning and purchasing materials efficiently for work delivery.
- Complying with safeguarding policies and health & safety standards at all times.
- Operating within company policies on occupational road risk.
- Using a PDA smartphone to update progress and complete work reports daily.
What You Will Need
- Essential: NVQ/City & Guilds qualifications or equivalent, or qualified by experience.
- Full UK driving license (max 5 points).
- Desirable: Experience in social housing.
