This position is a volunteer role that supports district staff and students in accordance with district policies. The volunteer does not replace or assume the responsibilities or authority of district staff.
Responsibilities
- Assist district staff with approved activities and programs, under direction, without providing regular instruction or educational training to students.
- Follow district policies and any additional procedures established by the school within the district on whose behalf volunteers provide services.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information and sign the district Confidentiality Statement as required.
- Undergo security procedures, including Raptor ID checks upon entering school buildings, as required by the district.

Certifications and Compliance
- Prior to serving as a volunteer, provide and file the following information with the District Personnel Office: (1) a report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police or a statement that no such information exists; (2) certification from the Department of Human Services regarding statewide child abuse database status; (3) report of Federal criminal history information; (4) tuberculosis examination results (i.e., Tine test) as required by state law and regulations.
Volunteer Policies and Responsibilities
- Volunteers are not entitled to request or receive instructional authority beyond what is provided by district staff.
- Volunteers may be restricted from administering or enforcing discipline, and from operating district vehicles or transporting students, except as specifically authorized.
- Volunteers must maintain confidentiality of student information and complete required confidentiality and background checks.
- Volunteers will be subject to district procedures, policies, and security measures (e.g., Raptor ID checks) when on district property.
Mandatory Reporter
A volunteer shall report suspected child abuse if there is reasonable cause to suspect that a child is a victim. Volunteers should review the district\’s Policy No. 806 regarding reporting duties.
Accommodations
The District is willing to accommodate volunteers with disabilities or special needs. Volunteers requiring accommodations should contact the relevant building principal.
Disqualification
Holding the position of a volunteer is a privilege conferred by the Board and the district reserves the right to suspend or terminate the privilege to serve as a volunteer at any time, with or without cause.
