Custodian 2nd Shift (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM Tuesday – Saturday) at Moore Elementary School.
POSITION: CUSTODIAN
REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Facilities or Designee and Building Principal
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the cleaning of building facilities as per school standards; maintains the building in order to assist in the learning process.
Qualifications
- Possesses High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Assures compliance with Employment Eligibility, Criminal History Record, Pre-Employment Drug Testing, and Physical Examination/TB Test Standard
- Possesses strong oral and written communication skills
- Possesses interpersonal skills including tact, patience and courtesy
- Exercises courtesy and good judgment in dealing with staff, students, parents, and the public
- Possesses ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
- Possesses experience in custodial duties preferred
- Possesses a valid driver’s license
Primary Job Functions
The position holder must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. It is the responsibility of the employee to inform the NASD of any and all reasonable accommodations that will be required
- Performs all duties per the daily schedule, as provided by the Director of Operations
- Cleans rooms, lavatories, drinking fountains, corridors, stairways, windows and other spaces by dusting, sweeping, washing, wet mopping, waxing, vacuuming and using other approved cleaning techniques
- Removes trash and recycling products from buildings; loads vehicles and storage units, if necessary
- Sets up and dismantles rooms, tables, chairs, etc for events, activities and meetings in the buildings, as assigned
- Possesses ability to operate various types of vehicles – automatic, manual transmission, etc.
- Assures ability to climb ladders and work at heights up to and exceeding 50 feet
- Possesses ability to read and follow directions in order to properly mix cleaning chemicals
- Possesses ability to operate equipment provided by the district to properly maintain the building and grounds including grass mowing and snow removal
- Removes snow and ice from sidewalks and driveways; pulls weeds, trims hedges and bushes, and cuts grass
- Replaces light bulbs in designated areas
- Maintains regular and timely attendance
Secondary Job Functions
- Notifies Director of Operations and/or building principal of any necessary repairs or malfunctions
- Checks doors, windows, and gates in designated areas to make sure they are secured
- Reports any heating and air conditioning that is running after hours
- Reports any irregularities with the building or maintenance systems
- Possesses ability to set up and tear down scaffolding and extension ladders
- Possesses ability to do weekly playground, building and roof checks
- May paint up to 4hrs a day/8 hrs a week while school is in session and 4hrs a day/16 hrs a week during summer hours
- Attends meetings and trainings as assigned
- Performs other duties as assigned
