Core Eligibility & Documentation
We require observers to be affiliated with an educational program. Before applying, prepare the following:
- Identification: A valid government‑issued photo ID (e. g., drivers license).
- Number of hours you are required to observe
- University Advisor Name
- University Advisor Email
- Mandatory Clearances
You must complete all background checks before entering a campus. Standard requirements include:
- State Criminal History Record: PA State Police Clearance Act 34 (Can say "VOLUNTEER or OTHER" purposes - No FEE for Volunteer)
- Child Abuse History Clearance: Act 151 Child Abuse Clearance (Can say "VOLUNTEER or OTHER" purposes - No FEE for Volunteer)
- Federal Fingerprinting: Act 114 FBI Fingerprinting (There is a fee)
- Health Screening: A negative TB test result dated within 3 months of the date the district receives it.

- Submit Online Application: Click Apply at the top right hand corner of this screen and answer all of the required questions.
- Upload Documents: Upload clearance forms. You will need to have all of these documents prior to completing the application.
- Await Approval
- Secure Placement: Valerie Abraham will email you and your placement once your application has been fully processed.
- Observer Professional Conduct
- Dress Code: Maintain professional attire that distinguishes you from the students (no shorts, flip‑flops, or revealing clothing).
- Check‑In: Always report to the front office first to sign in and wear an issued Visitor badge at all times.
- Classroom Etiquette: Do not use cell phones, take photos/videos, or participate in classroom activities unless explicitly invited by the teacher.
