TITLE: Cafeteria Monitor
CATEGORY: III – Group B
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
JOB SUMMARY: Assists with the supervision of the cafeteria during lunch periods; monitors playground activities at the elementary level.
Qualifications
- Possesses High School Diploma or Equivalency
- Assures compliance with Employment Eligibility through Criminal History Records, Pre-Employment Drug Testing and Physical Examination/TB Test Standard
- Possesses proficiency in the English language
- Possesses strong oral and written communication skills
- Possesses ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
- Possesses and/or willing to obtain First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications
- Possesses ability to deal courteously and tactfully with students, staff, and the public
Primary Job Functions

Monitors and directs student activities in lunch areas

At the elementary level, monitors students in play areas, restrooms, areas adjacent to the school buildings and activities in the classrooms on rainy days

Assists in keeping cafeteria areas in order and clean condition
- Monitors students and responds to situations in a timely manner
- Maintains appropriate student behavior according to established rules, procedures and policies
- Supports in the enforcement of district and building emergency procedures including fire drills, intruder on property, and others
- Reports unusual, suspicious or criminal activities to a building administrator
- Reports inappropriate student behavior and assists in the preparation of necessary incident reports
- Assists students who are ill, injured or experiencing difficulty by requesting immediate assistance from the office or appropriate personnel
- Administers basic first aid, if necessary
- Maintains regular and timely attendance
Secondary Job Functions
- Establishes and maintains cooperative and effective working relationships with others
- Assists and supervises students as they leave or enter the school grounds, at the elementary level
- Attends meetings and trainings as assigned
- Performs related duties as assigned

- Possesses ability to exchange information in person and on the hand-held communication device
- Possesses ability to move about the cafeteria and playground area (elementary only) to monitor student activities
- Possesses ability to effectively communicate in order to exchange information
