The Finance Assistant will support the day-to-day operations of the Finance team at Northamber, a leading UK IT distributor. The role focuses on accurate processing of financial transactions and effective communication with English and Dutch-speaking customers and suppliers, helping to maintain strong commercial relationships and efficient financial controls. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is organised, detail-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced distribution environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Finance & Accounts Support
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
- Process supplier invoices and credit notes
- Raising supplier purchase orders
- Reconcile supplier statements and investigate discrepancies
- Assist with bank reconciliations and month-end close activities
- Maintain accurate financial records in line with internal controls
- Dutch Language & Commercial Support
- Communicate with Dutch-speaking customers and suppliers by email and telephone
- Handle queries relating to invoices, payments, credit notes, and account balances
- Support the resolution of payment issues to minimise aged debt
- Operational & Team Support
- Work closely with internal teams including Sales, Operations, and Credit Control
- Assist with reporting and ad-hoc finance requests
- Support audit and compliance requirements as needed
- Contribute to continuous improvement of finance processes
Skills & Experience
- Essential
- Fluent in Dutch and English (written and spoken)
- Previous experience in a finance and accounts
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Confident using Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
- Desirable
- Familiarity with accounting or ERP systems
- Experience dealing with international customers or suppliers
