Growth Marketing Lead in Leeds

Growth Marketing Lead in Leeds

Leeds Full-Time On-site
N

As we continue to grow our specialist digital marketing services, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Growth Marketing Lead to join north9.

If you’re a marketingsuperstar and are interested in working with inspiring travel brands, building the business and enjoy working at an innovative and growing company then we want to hear from you.

You start work every morning smiling and excited for what’s ahead. You work with talented people who do incredible work. You go home (or move into the next room at home) feeling fulfilled and like you’re making a difference as part of a team that truly values your input.

That’s what we aim for every day at north9.

Your role will be a combination of driving growth for the agency and growth for clients.

This might be agency-focused one day; building our B2B travel community, identifying and pursuing potential partners or coming up with new initiatives to increase our visibility in the marketplace.

The next you might be leading the charge for a client, co-ordinating their marketing strategy and liaising with the client team to ensure we’re delivering world-beating results and unreasonable hospitality.

Half your time will be spent overseeing strategy and delivery for your set of clients and co-ordinating monthly activity with channel leads. The other half on north9’s growth, driving inbound leads from travel brands and reporting directly to the founder.

We don’t have a traditional line management structure, but we’d love you to come in as a leader and mentor less experienced members of the team and support their growth.

You’re someone who loves a challenge and combines creative flair and ideas with practicalities and operational efficiency to get things done.

You’re great at building relationships with the team, clients and partners, but don’t mind getting your hands dirty to create and test MVP ideas for our own growth.

And you’ll have some channel expertise up your sleeve and understand what levers to use and when.

————-

We’re more than a marketing agency. We’re a group of highly skilled people looking to maximise those skills and help everyone in the team grow and develop. We spend a lot of our time helping clients get more visible and make more sales, but we also work on our own internal projects to stretch our creative muscles and create alternative revenue streams.

You’ll be trusted with freedom and given the responsibility to perform to the best of your ability. But you’ll also be given support whenever needed to help guide you on the path you want to go down and keep developing your craft.

We give all the profit we make to educational charities, so the work you do makes a real difference. The better the work we do together, the more impact we can make for people who really need that support.

We’re entering an exciting period of growth where we want to invest in the team and the business, and we can’t wait to get like-minded people on board to drive that journey forward.

If that’s the kind of environment that floats your boat then read on…

You know a bit about us – here’s what we’d be looking for from you. Don’t take this as a box ticking exercise where you need to fit everything, rather a guide on the things we’d love to have which we can use as a foundation to build on together

  • You’re a marketing fanatic. You love the game and have an understanding across the broad set of channels out there and how they connect.
  • Operational excellence. You get things done and know how to prioritise the right actions for yourself and the wider team.
  • A relationship builder. You can get on with anyone and everyone and make connections that drive results. Switching from conversations with less experienced members of the team to founders of travel businesses and everyone in between comes naturally.
  • You understand how all marketing channels connect and can deep dive in multiple areas. It might be that you’re a social media and community-building expert who knows how PPC and SEO join the dots. Or you’re a technical data and CRM powerhouse who knows how to talk with the creative teams to deliver top results. Wherever your deeper expertise lies, the key is understanding how all the pieces fit together and making it happen.
  • Strategy is at the core of everything you do. You can look at data, chat with teams and understand what’s working and what isn’t. Then make a plan that delivers results.
  • Commercial thinking is always at the forefront of your mind. You connect channel-specific results with business-level outcomes and revenue and can hold your own in those conversations with clients and leadership.
  • You’re actively engaged with AI and using those tools to enhance your workflow and those of your team.
  • Calm under pressure. When the intensity increases you stay calm and collected so that feeling translates to the rest of the team.
  • Communication skills that are second to none. You convey key messages simply and clearly, without jargon or adding complexity.
  • You like change! In an ever-evolving industry and agency environment, you’re happy to adapt and refine what you do to continue being effective.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit. We’re a small business and we value people who can take the reins, try new things and make stuff happen.
  • A problem solver. New things pop up every day that we’ve never seen before – do you always ask for help, or work it out and teach others?
  • You’re super organised and can juggle multiple clients and tasks effectively, even when the pressure is on and there’s urgency across the board.
  • Process driven. Doing something once yourself is great. Creating a system that enables lots of people to do it over and over again is even better.
  • The drive and enthusiasm to achieve results beyond the ordinary.
  • We really value side projects – if you have any examples of these share them in your application.
  • A team player who is prepared to dig in and do the difficult things well and support other areas of the business when needed.

What It's Like

In the same way that we value long relationships with clients, we also want our team to love being a part of what we’re doing and be in it for the long haul. Here are some reasons we believe we’re a great place to work and you’ll want to do just that:

  • Flexible working. You decide your hours and we have a combination of working from home and in the office which the team works out together.
  • Autonomy. You’re in charge of what you do and when you do it (within the business needs of course!).
  • Input in all company decisions. We’re not a top-down organisation, everyone (who wants to) gets involved when we’re discussing big company stuff.
  • Everything you need to work safely at home. Mac, budget for a comfortable home working environment etc.
  • Balance. We want to create great things and do amazing work, but we also want everyone to live great lives too.
  • 25 days holiday + your birthday off.
  • Wonderful Wednesdays – one Wednesday/month off to explore a new skill or hobby.
  • The opportunity to work one month abroad each year.
  • Company health (medical, dental) insurance plans after 3 months of full-time employment.
  • Annual bonus based on company performance.

You will be expected to:

  • Hit the ground running.
  • Dive into client relationships immediately.
  • Experiment with rapidly changing technology like AI.
  • Help the team develop and improve.
  • Regularly report on successes and challenges and adapt accordingly.
  • Work independently and stick to deadlines.
  • Demonstrate a desire to learn continuously.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

Who will you work closely with?

Tom McLoughlin

Founder

Tom is here to steer the ship in the right direction, to ensure what we offer is best in class, and to keep clients and the team happy! Naturally, he loves to travel, but Honduras is a favourite destination after having spent a year there teaching after finishing school.

Amelia Selby

PR | Impact | Partnerships

Amelia leads our PR activity – gaining links to top publications through creative campaigns, press releases, PR stunts, social media, newsjacking, and more. The country that has her heart is India – diverse scenery, incredible people and the food is to die for!

Ella Whitehead

Content | Email | People

Ella is known for ‘having her fingers in many pies’ across the company, working with the content, email, and links teams. Somewhere that she could visit over and over again is New York, but California is the next spot on her bucket list.

Kerri is here to lead the SEO team, managing the design and implementation of SEO strategies to help our clients grow their businesses. She was born (and spent her first 24 years) in South Africa and it will always be her favourite country, one that she recommends everyone should visit.

Luiza’s role is client management on the SEO & PPC front, drawing on her extensive digital marketing experience. She’s been to over 50 countries and has also been a travel blogger for over 10 years, so she’s not only an SEO expert, but a destination one as well!

Alex Marland

Alex finds and facilitates our new client relationships, chatting with business owners and founders and finding out all their business aches and pains with the goal of helping them. When it comes to travel, France is a top pick, especially the Alps.

The Ultimate Travel Marketing Playbook

We partnered with WTM London to produce a simple step-by-step playbook for travel businesses to apply the same tried and tested marketing methods that have helped hundreds of our travel clients grow.
