Responsibilities
- EHS Management & Compliance – Assist the EHS and Building Safety Manager in implementing and maintaining sector and project specific Health, Safety, and Environmental management systems.
- Ensure all project and site operations comply with CDM 2015, FSO 2005 (and other relevant EHS legislation).
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards, non-compliance, and improvement areas.
- Provide EHS advice, guidance, and support to project teams, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Assist in developing and reviewing risk assessments, method statements, and site-specific safety plans (CPP or WPP).
- Support site teams in managing temporary works and keeping site compounds organized.
- Building Safety Act (BSA) & Site Audits – Conduct routine site audits to verify compliance with Building Safety Act 2022 for Higher-Risk Buildings, and record findings in North’s SafetyCulture tool.
- Verify on-site practices align with the Golden Thread of building information and report discrepancies.
- Assist Project Manager and Technical Compliance Manager to monitor safety-critical elements related to building structure and fire safety, ensuring adherence to designs and standards.
- Report BSA-focused audit findings to the EHS and Building Safety Manager, highlighting good practice and non-conformance.
- Assist in collecting and verifying on-site evidence for completion certificate requirements.
- Incident Management & Reporting – Support investigation of EHS incidents, accidents, near misses, health issues, and building safety occurrences; identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in preparing EHS and Building Safety reports as required by procedures and regulations.
- Training & Awareness – Contribute to EHS inductions, toolbox talks, and site training; promote a positive safety and building safety culture across project sites.
- Environmental Management – Monitor site environmental performance, including waste management, pollution prevention, and resource efficiency. Ensure compliance with environmental permits and legislation.
Qualifications
- Essential: NEBOSH National General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent).
- Proven experience as an EHS Advisor or similar in construction, M&E, or technology installation sectors, preferably on high-rise or complex buildings.
- Strong knowledge of CDM 2015.
- Awareness of the Building Safety Act 2022 (BSA) and its implications for site operations.
- Experience auditing site compliance, including fire safety and general EHS standards.
- Ability to conduct thorough site inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage, advise, and influence personnel at all levels.
- Proactive, organised, and detail-oriented approach to EHS management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; membership in IOSH/IIRSM is desirable.
- Full UK driving license and willingness to travel regularly to project sites.
