Location: Skipton Salary: Scale 4 (£26,106 – £28,653) plus shift and weekend working allowance Contract Type: Full Time / Permanent Shift Pattern: 9-day rotation over 9 weeks, consisting of 3 earlies, 3 lates and 3 rest days We have an opportunity for a Safety Camera Officer to join the Traffic Bureau department at North Yorkshire Police. In this exciting, challenging, and rewarding role, you can make a difference to improve driver behaviour and reduce the number of serious and fatal collisions on North Yorkshires 6000 miles of road network. Your day-to-day role will include travel to designated and approved locations, to carry out enforcement of speed limits and other road traffic offences. You will have access to fully converted vehicles, and high-quality equipment and technology, to aid your enforcement activity. You will typically be required to work independently in this role, but effective team working is necessary with colleagues across the department and the wider Police Force. It is also important that our Safety Camera Officers are confident and professional when communicating and engaging with members of the public. Here at NYP, its our people that really count. In this role you will: Be responsible for loading and unloading camera enforcement equipment. Review offences captured by yourself on the camera devices. Prepare accurate court files and presenting evidence in court when required. Be responsible for secure storage, retention and disposal of all safety camera media and exhibits. Along with being able to work collaboratively in a team, sharing thoughts and ideas, to be successful in the role you will: Demonstrate excellent numeric and literacy skills and be confident in using IT equipment with knowledge of Microsoft Office. Have the physical ability to lift heavy equipment at waist and shoulder height. Have excellent communication skills. Demonstrate good administrative skills. Show pride in producing accurate work. Have a current full driving licence due to the need to travel to various sites in Force vehicles (Full motorcycle licence also is desirable but not essential). Please note candidates will need to commit to the shift pattern. During the summer, the early shift is 06:00 – 15:00 and the late shift is 14:00 – 22:00.
