Role
Would you like to join our friendly Tearoom Team, offering a first-class visitor experience to our customers, whilst working at one of Britain’s most popular Heritage Railways? We are currently recruiting a permanent tearoom catering assistant for Grosmont Tearoom, reporting to the tearoom supervisor.
We are looking for a candidate with:
- Experience in food preparation and service
- Flexibility with working hours and ability to cover in the supervisor’s absence
- A thriving attitude in a busy environment
You will:
- Assist in all aspects of food preparation and service to visitors and working members of the NYMR in a friendly, professional & profitable manner
- Cover in the supervisor’s days off, opening up and closing down the outlet & cashing up
- Maintain the cleanliness of the premises, clean and wipe tables & keep the tearoom clean and well stocked
- Follow all health & safety procedures, ensuring good food hygiene practices are adhered to at all times, ensuring the tearoom retains its level 5 food standard rating

The Hours
This permanent Tearoom Assistant position is based on 1560 annualised hours. These hours will be mainly worked during the main operating season (March – early November), usually 5 days over 7, including weekend working. Additional hours may be worked during the winter months when trains are running.
