Hours available:
- Grosmont Station (YO22 5QE) - 25 hours per week, ranging from 7am start to 3pm finish
- Pickering Station (YO18 7AJ) - 12 to 22 hours per week, AM and PM shifts available.
Estates Servicing Team Pickering & Grosmont Stations
Salary: £13.45 per hour from 1st April 2026
We have a variety of roles to fill for the Railways 2026 season (March 2026 to January 2027):
- Station, Office, Carriage and accommodation cleaners.
Do you have experience working in a cleaning team? Do you have the flexibility to work some weekends and bank holidays? Would you like to work in a varied role and have a positive effect on our visitors’ experience? Yes... Then this could be the job for you!
You Will:
- Keep all areas of the NYMR estate clean & maintained.
- Open and lock up sites as required by Servicing Lead.
- Prepare coaches which involves watering up, re-gassing, charging and toilet tank emptying following the training provided and safe systems of work.
- All public areas regularly checked for cleanliness & stock levels.
- Ensure that all stock & staffing levels are maintained.
Weekends and bank holidays are standard working days.
Personal Specification
Essential:
- Experience of manual work or domestic cleaning.
- Be able to take part in a shift rota covering 7 days per week, mornings and some evenings.
- Ability to carry out manual tasks often outdoors.
- Be friendly, hardworking and trustworthy with an approachable personality.
- Self motivated with the ability to work both alone and as part of a team.
- Good standard of attention to detail.
- Personal Track Safety (PTS) and other mandatory training must be passed as soon as post begins.
Desirable:
- NVQ2 or CITB L2 Cleaning and Support Services.
- Experience in a fast paced commercial cleaning role.
- Trained in Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH).
- First Aid at Work Certificate.
- UK Driving license and own transport and be able to drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes.
