About The Role
Are you passionate about creating memorable experiences? Do you thrive on bringing events to life? The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is seeking a talented Events Lead to plan, coordinate, and deliver an exciting programme of events that showcase our rich heritage and captivate visitors of all ages. This is a hands‐on role combining creative event development with operational delivery. You will work closely with staff, volunteers, and external partners to create heritage‐themed events, family activities, special services, and community celebrations that drive visitor engagement and generate vital income for our charity.
What You Will Do
- Design, plan, and deliver a diverse calendar of events aligned with the railway's heritage, brand, and commercial objectives.
- Lead on‐day event delivery, ensuring exceptional visitor experiences.
- Coordinate staffing and volunteer rotas, providing clear briefings and support.
- Manage event budgets, monitoring income and expenditure to maximise commercial performance.
- Work with marketing to promote events and build relationships with performers, suppliers, sponsors, and community partners.
- Ensure all events comply with health and safety legislation and railway operating procedures.
Essential – What We Are Looking For
- Minimum 3 years' experience planning and delivering events.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent communication and people‐management skills.
- Confidence working with volunteers and diverse teams.
- A practical, hands‐on approach with willingness to work weekends and bank holidays.
- Commitment to the values and purpose of heritage or cultural organisations.
- Computer literacy and a UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience in heritage, tourism, visitor attractions, or railway environments.
- Budget management experience.
- Knowledge of health and safety practices in public events.
- Creative flair and enthusiasm for engaging audiences of all ages.
