Salary: £29,740.49 per annum FTE, rising to £30,287.98 per annum FTE (45% of hours in unsocial hours)

Hours per Week: Up to 37.5 hours; 24‑hour shift pattern, 5 nights in 7, includes weekends

Overview: Permanent Contract with Saint Michael’s Hospice, Harrogate. You will support patients across a range of palliative, end‑of‑life, complex and social care needs as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing compassionate care and support for patients’ daily needs, including palliative and end‑of‑life care
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, carers and healthcare professionals
  • Following care plans, policies and procedures, including infection control and safety guidelines
  • Performing basic clinical skills (e.g., medication administration, monitoring) within training and competence
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and volunteers
  • Accurately recording and documenting care provided
  • Upholding patient dignity, hygiene and safeguarding, including care after death
  • Using manual handling and equipment safely to support patient independence

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence and emotional resilience in handling complex or sensitive situations
  • Experience delivering individualized care in dynamic, needs‑led environments such as wards or community settings
  • Evidence of formal training or continued professional development in care, particularly palliative care
  • A passion for palliative, hospice or specialist ward care
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a close‑knit team
