About the Role
We’re looking for a proactive and creative Assistant Manager to help grow income at our dedicated House & Home store in Harrogate. Working as a senior member of the team, you’ll support the day‑to‑day running of our furniture and homeware retail operation, combining strong commercial awareness with a passion for purpose‑led retail.
Responsibilities
- Lead by example on the shop floor, ensuring excellent customer and donor experiences, high‑quality visual merchandising, effective stock rotation, and strong furniture sales performance.
- Support van operations, including collections, deliveries, and safe handling of donated goods to ensure smooth and efficient logistics across the store.
- Assist with operational planning, volunteer recruitment, induction, and deputise for the Manager when required.
- Contribute to the eCommerce function, helping with basic online selling activity such as photography, listings, pricing, and dispatch processes.
Qualifications
- Experience from a retail environment, ideally including stock management, merchandising, customer service, or supporting sales through online platforms.
- Strong IT skills, including Outlook, Excel and Word, with the ability to prioritise tasks, solve problems and work independently.
- Experience supporting or supervising staff and/or volunteers, delivering a positive, inclusive team environment.
- Understanding of stock flow, KPIs and retail operations; experience with EPOS systems, Gift Aid or eCommerce platforms is desirable.
