Overview: Permanent Contract with Saint Michael’s Hospice, Harrogate. You will support patients across a range of palliative, end‑of‑life, complex and social care needs as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities:
- Providing compassionate care and support for patients’ daily needs, including palliative and end‑of‑life care
- Communicating effectively with patients, families, carers and healthcare professionals
- Following care plans, policies and procedures, including infection control and safety guidelines
- Performing basic clinical skills (e.g., medication administration, monitoring) within training and competence
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and volunteers
- Accurately recording and documenting care provided
- Upholding patient dignity, hygiene and safeguarding, including care after death
- Using manual handling and equipment safely to support patient independence
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence and emotional resilience in handling complex or sensitive situations
- Experience delivering individualized care in dynamic, needs‑led environments such as wards or community settings
- Evidence of formal training or continued professional development in care, particularly palliative care
- A passion for palliative, hospice or specialist ward care
- The ability to work independently and as part of a close‑knit team
