About the Role
We’re seeking a dedicated Workplace Operations Manager to join our Commercial, Property, and Procurement team. North Yorkshire Council’s Property and Land Estate consists of over 3,000 land and property assets over a geographical area of 3,341sq miles, including operational offices, operational buildings delivering front line services, farmland, and private, residential, and commercial holdings. North Yorkshire Council work with several partners, such as the Local Police Force and the NHS, to support land and building requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee operational support to ensure Council workplaces are safe, fit for purpose, and efficiently managed.
- Manage contractors and suppliers, ensuring compliance, effective delivery, and value for money.
- Lead and guide a team of Workplace and Facilities Management professionals, promoting quality, customer service, and professionalism.
- Support performance monitoring, continuous improvement, and service optimisation within the workplace portfolio.
- Ensure workplaces meet compliance standards, including health & safety and the Equality Act, and drive sustainable improvements.
Additional Duties
- Manage team performance, recruitment and development while fostering collaboration across the organisation.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including NHS, Police, and other partners.
- Contribute to strategic asset management, service planning and policy development, ensuring alignment with the Council’s objectives.
- Promote continuous improvement, implement best practices and support a culture of quality assurance and innovation in workplace management.
What are we looking for?
- Recent experience in operational management of Workplace/Facilities Management services within a property portfolio.
- Strong understanding of statutory requirements and best practices in property maintenance and building services compliance.
- In‑depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and risk management.
- Proven expertise in procurement and contract management within facilities management.
- Demonstrated leadership skills that foster commitment and promote a positive organisational culture.
