Flexibility over agreeing which one of our Council Offices locations the role is based from, with hybrid working opportunities and a requirement to cover the North Yorkshire area for hearings and meetings. We are currently looking to recruit an organised individual with strong communication and IT skills to work as a Governance Officer within our successful legal service here at North Yorkshire Council. About the team
The post is within the Legal Service team which is part of Legal and Democratic Services within the Chief Executive’s Group. The Legal Service team has a number of officers responsible for governance functions – including the delivery and implementation of the statutory responsibility for embedding high standards of conduct and practice amongst all Councillors.
Role purpose
The role involves acting as the case manager, facilitating and co-ordinating the response to complaints and enquiries relating to the conduct of all North Yorkshire Councillors and all Town and Parish Councillors in the North Yorkshire area. Development Support will be provided in any areas of the law where the candidate has not had the relevant experience and the role is part of a supportive team of professionals which provides the opportunity to learn and develop within our service.
