About the Team
Our Transport Planning team was established in 2024 and has quickly grown into a dynamic and collaborative group. We're a close-knit team made up of an Associate Transport Planner, two Transport Planners, a Senior Technician, a Graduate, and a Degree Apprentice. Together, we bring a mix of experience, fresh ideas, and a shared passion for delivering innovative and sustainable transport solutions. As we continue to grow, we're looking for someone who's excited to contribute, learn, and help shape the future of our team.
As part of our collaborative and forward-thinking team, the Senior or Transport Modeller will play a key role in supporting North Yorkshire Council by maintaining and developing a suite of microsimulation models to inform critical transport decisions. Working closely with our Graduate Transport Planner with a strong background in maths and physics and a talent for managing complex datasets, you will also contribute to the delivery of high-quality Transport Assessments across a variety of projects. With guidance and mentorship from an experienced transport modelling professional with over 15 years' expertise, particularly in microsimulation, you'll benefit from a supportive environment that encourages technical development and professional growth.

What You'll Be Doing
- Managing your own workloads and outputs to support wider team and company objectives
- Collaborating on a diverse range of projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver transport planning solutions
- Helping to establish best practices, drive innovation, and contribute to the successful delivery of highway schemes and development projects
- Building, calibrating and validating existing and new microsimulation models from a couple of junctions to whole towns
- Supporting the preparation and delivery of Transport Assessments
Qualifications
- A degree in a numerate discipline such as Transport Planning, Mathematics, Geography, Civil Engineering or similar
- Experience in transport modelling within a consultancy environment, including leading or supporting project delivery
- Strong track record in building, calibrating and validating microsimulation models
- Proficiency in industry software such as Paramics Discovery, Vissim and/or Aimsun
- Solid understanding of UK transport planning and regulatory requirements
- Good project management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and manage resources effectively
- Confident communicator, able to engage with colleagues, clients and stakeholders
- Demonstrable leadership qualities, with an interest in mentoring and continuous professional development
- Professional, ethical approach with a strong focus on quality and safety
- Ability to build and maintain positive client relationships and manage expectations
- Membership of, or working towards, a relevant professional body (TPS, CILT, CIHT)
- Full UK driving licence
