Do you have experience of working with care leavers, particularly those with complex needs, and a strong understanding of multi‑agency working? We are looking for a dedicated Leaving Care Worker to join our Refugee and Asylum Seeker Team.
About the Service
We are proud to be an Outstanding Leaving Care Team and Local Authority and work in a strength‑based and relationship‑based practice way. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people who are leaving care and who are also navigating the asylum‑seeking and refugee processes. Joining a small, dedicated county‑wide team, you will also be part of the wider leaving care team covering the whole of North Yorkshire and beyond.
About the Role
You will manage a case load of young people between the ages of 16 and 25 years old. This will include reviewing and co‑ordinating the young person’s pathway plan, acting as an advocate for the young person when required, referring to other relevant services and always striving for the best outcomes for each young person whilst working flexibly to meet their needs. You need to be able to maintain appropriate records and management information.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience supporting care‑experienced young people aged 16–25
- Experience of working with young people with complex needs
- Extensive experience of working within multi‑agency services
- A sound knowledge of Leaving Care legislation and guidance as well as a sound knowledge of relevant legislation and procedures for young people claiming asylum and who have refugee status
- Ability to maintain appropriate records and management information
