Overview

A Child Support Assistant is required for 5 hours per week in term-time with extra hours available in the school holidays. The role involves supporting a young boy with a physical disability and his family, including helping with swimming trips on Fridays after school and additional in-home support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide all personal care as he is unable to toilet independently; assist with showering and dressing.
  • Support the boy on trips and daily activities, including reading, play, meals, getting ready for bed.
  • Assist with mobility and safety, including helping with car transfers and outings; some lifting required.
  • Support with sensory needs and supervise to keep him safe.

Schedule and location

  • Term time: two sessions of 2.5 hours, possibly Monday and Friday (Friday 3.30–5.30 pm) with some flexibility.
  • School holidays: one session of 5 hours with potential for an additional 5 hours on some weeks; days flexible.
  • Location: rural Slingsby (YO62). A driver is required; a Motability car is available, but the driver must be over 25.

Requirements

  • DBS check required.
  • Driving licence preferred; ability to drive preferred (over 25) due to regulations.
  • Experience with Special Needs: Tar Syndrome or similar, and at least 1 year preferred.
  • Language: English (preferred).

Pay and application

  • Pay: £13.25 per hour.
  • Expected hours: 5 per week.
