Located at Danby Lodge National Park Centre, the North York Moors National Park Authority helps to care for one of the UK's most distinctive protected landscapes. Spanning 554 square miles, the National Park is home to expansive heather moorland, woodland, remote dales, historic villages and dramatic coastline, and plays an important role in supporting nature, communities and sustainable access for visitors.

We are now looking for a Future Generations Wellbeing Manager to join us on a part-time basis, working 30 hours per week across four days, for a fixed-term contract until December 2027 to cover a period of maternity leave.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced youth engagement professional with strong project and people management skills to join our dedicated organisation. You'll have the chance to help children, young people and families build a lasting connection with one of the UK's most distinctive protected landscapes, supporting them to feel heard, strengthening their wellbeing and giving them a meaningful role in shaping the future of the North York Moors National Park.

As our Future Generations Wellbeing Manager, you will lead engagement with children, young people and families, helping them connect with, care for and have a voice in the future of the North York Moors National Park. Leading and co-ordinating Future Generations activity across the Authority, you will manage staff, and work with volunteers and partners to develop inclusive opportunities that support engagement, nature connection, health and wellbeing.

You will oversee youth volunteering programmes and champion Youth Voice, enabling young people to contribute to the work of the Authority. Acting as the Deputy Safeguarding Lead, you will also help ensure activities are delivered safely and in line with safeguarding, health and safety and equality requirements.

Additionally, you will:

  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of Future Generations activity
  • Plan and manage projects, budgets and resources
  • Develop partnerships and seek funding opportunities
  • Represent us at project meetings and share best practice
  • Support young people participating in Authority forums
  • Keep relevant website content up to date
  • Oversee project officers working within Future Generations and Wellbeing

About You

To be considered as our Future Generations Wellbeing Manager, you will need:

  • Experience of establishing, organising and delivering programmes of youth engagement
  • Experience of working in partnership with a range of agencies and organisations in the field of children, families and youth engagement
  • Experience of managing projects, budgets, staff and volunteers
  • Experience of monitoring and evaluating the broad outcomes of children, families and youth engagement
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with a range of partners
  • A full, valid driving licence with D1 entitlement or the willingness to undertake the training for D1 entitlement

This post involves substantial involvement with young people; therefore, it is National Park policy to carry out pre-employment DBS checks.
