The North York Moors National Park Authority helps to look after one of the most phenomenal parts of the British Isles. Filled with beautiful moorlands and fantastic woodland, the North York Moors is a unique area with a diversity of landscapes and wildlife.

We are now looking for a Conservation Officer to join our team on a full-time basis for a 12-month fixed-term contract.

The Role

As a Conservation Officer, you will support the delivery of conservation projects within the Esk and Coastal Streams Catchment.

Your work will contribute to the long-term health of freshwater environments by collaborating with land managers, external partners and conservation teams to implement targeted restoration initiatives.

Developing and delivering these projects, you will offer funding and advice to land managers, oversee in-channel restoration works and address obstacles to fish migration.Contribute to evaluation and monitoring of works; support quarterly updates and provide reports as required for Authority management, external bodies, and funders.

Additionally, you will:

– Conduct and manage river habitat walkover surveys- Support the implementation of catchment management objectives

About You

To be considered as a Conservation Officer, you will need:

– Experience of working in rural areas with land managers, volunteers, partner organisations and communities, implementing countryside conservation projects- Experience of partnership working- Report writing and research skills- To be educated to degree level or equivalent in an appropriate subject such as ecology or environmental science, or at least two years experience in a relevant field- A full, valid driving licence and access to a vehicle

Please note, this role will involve working occasional weekends and evenings.
