Position Purpose
The Laborer shall perform tasks involving physical labor at operational sites to support various mission requirements. Work in accordance with US Navy Policies and Protocols for the Navy Marine Mammal Program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the building, installation, and maintenance of on-water facilities in support of the Navy-Marine Mammal Program
- Assist with the building, installation, and maintenance of land-based facilities in support of the Navy-Marine Mammal Program
- Maintain and operate water filtration systems
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of unmanned underwater vehicles
- Assist with the transport of vessels to and from service centers
- Assist with the buildout, inventory management, and maintenance of specialized equipment and hardware deployed at the site
- Lift and carry materials
- Utilize power tools and hand tools
- Inspect, maintain and operate assigned manual and power tools
- Collection of construction debris/trash
- Load/unload various materials
- To be able to work independently as well as a team player
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED
- 3 years’ experience in general construction
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to lift 75lbs wet from water to dock
- Ability to be certified for forklift operations
- Ability to be certified for coxswain operations
- Ability to work independently as well as a team player
- Ability to work safely and efficiently
- Ability to follow supervisory verbal and written instructions and designated health and safety requirements
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions
- Ability to swim (due to working on and around docks/water)
Special Requirements
- Understands the importance of safety and working according to safety standards
- Must be able to pass background screen to obtain access to work location

- Large scale water filtration systems experience
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, or feel; reach and signal with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and smell. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75+ in weight from water to dock. Able to safely maneuver around platforms that are located on the water and moving with the wake.
Working Environment
A typical day for a laborer is spent on an operational site in conditions that can be unpredictable; for example, outdoor working conditions may be noisy, cold, hot, dusty, and wet.
