To play a senior role in helping implement the North West Leicestershire Economic Growth Plan, by leading the formulation and delivery of specific initiatives and projects.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- To play a specialist role in one or more of the following activities of the council’s Economic Regeneration Service:
- Enterprise, Business, Skills and Intelligence
- Town Centre, Investment, Marketing and Promotion
- Visitor Economy Development
- Regeneration and Economic Infrastructure Projects
- To demonstrate a proactive approach to supporting the district’s urban and rural places to thrive and grow, including identifying and delivering strategies which:
- Increase retail occupancy levels
- Increase visitor numbers
- Bring new indigenous and inward investment
- Stimulate business creation and growth
- Deliver new and renewed economic infrastructure
- Develop skills and employability
- Increase local spend
- To develop partnerships and working relationships at all levels (from national down to very local) which contribute positively to the delivery of initiatives that further the wellbeing of residents of the district.
- To ensure the Council’s policies and strategies appropriately reflect the needs of the local economy and maximise the Council’s opportunities to work with and learn from businesses.
- Work with colleagues in other service departments across the Council to capture economic development opportunities arising from their services as fully as possible.
- To identify funding sources, then lead and/or support the development and submission of funding applications to support economic growth initiatives, including preparation of bids to the local enterprise partnership and government.
General responsibilities:
- View the service through the eyes of the customer and suggest improvements where appropriate.
- Carry out duties efficiently and effectively.
- Constantly challenge your own performance and make improvements.
- Help build pride, passion and reputation for NWLDC.
- Participate in the Council’s appraisal scheme and undertake any necessary training and development as identified for the job role.
- Ensure high standards of health and safety practice are maintained in accordance with council policy, including the health and safety and welfare at work of yourself and colleagues.
- Promote the Council’s Equality and Diversity Policy to ensure service provision and employment practices are non‑discriminatory.
- Undertake any other reasonable tasks appropriate to the grading of the post and as required by the line manager.
- Assist in the event of a civil emergency in any way as instructed.
