The Council’s Planning and Development Team are looking for two Planning Support Officers to join their team on temporary contracts. One on a full-time contract for 12 months and the other on a part-time contract, for maternity leave cover, initially on a 6-month contract with the possibility of extending to a maximum of 12 months subject to the date of return to work of the postholder.

The role provides administrative and technical support to the Planning and Development Team as well as providing guidance and procedural information to members of the public, planning agents, stakeholders as well as colleagues in the wider Council. The successful applicants need to be confident in using a range of software, be a great communicator (both verbally and in writing) and have a customer focused approach. The job involves a mix of office based and home working.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative and technical support to the Planning and Development Team.
  • Offer guidance and procedural information to members of the public, planning agents, stakeholders and colleagues in the wider Council.
  • Work a mix of office-based and home-working arrangements.
Contract details
  • Full-time role is 36.25 hrs per week; part-time is 18.25 hrs per week.
  • Annual salary for full-time: £25,583 - £25,989; part-time: £12,791 - £12,994 (pro rata to length of contract).
Location and benefits
  • Predominantly office based working at Whitwick Business Centre, Coalville.
  • 34 days holiday (including bank holidays) increasing to 38 days after 5 years (full time equivalent).
