We are seeking a proactive and solution‑focused Risk and Insurance Officer to support the Council in managing risks, safeguarding public funds and protecting our people, assets and reputation. This is a varied and influential role, working with services across the organisation to coordinate insurance arrangements, manage claims, and support effective risk management and governance practice. You will provide clear, professional advice to officers and work closely with insurers, brokers and other external partners.
About the role:
- Manage the Council’s insurance arrangements and claims processes
- Support the development and maintenance of corporate and service risk registers
- Provide practical advice on risk mitigation, controls and insurance cover
- Contribute to governance, assurance and audit requirements
About you:
You will have demonstrable experience in insurance, risk management, governance or a related discipline, with the confidence to communicate complex issues clearly to non‑specialists. You will be organised, detail‑focused and able to manage competing priorities, while demonstrating integrity, professionalism and a collaborative approach.
36.25 hrs per week with a starting annual salary of £37,280 (pay award pending). Agile working scheme with a combination of home and office working, this job requires working from council locations in Coalville a minimum of 1 day per week. 34 days holiday (including bank holidays) increasing to 38 days after 5 years (full time equivalent). Attractive Local Government Pension Scheme with at least 22% employer’s contribution. Employee benefits programme including payback on medical, dental and optical expenses.
