North West Leicestershire District Council is a busy council, working across our communities to help people and businesses thrive. We’re looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic team player to join our Housing Strategy and Systems Team.

About the role

Our Housing Choices Advisor will prevent homelessness by providing first line support to those seeking advice, undertaking initial assessments to identify customer needs and ensuring that our customers can access the necessary support to address their housing needs. The job offers flexible working from home and the office which may involve carrying out home visits to aid investigation of homeless cases and carrying out settling in visits to those placed in the private rented sector.

Our ideal candidate

You will have an understanding of the range of housing options that are available to our customers, including the operation of the Choice Based Lettings scheme. You will have knowledge of relevant housing and homelessness legislation, but more important is your ability to listen carefully and treat customers fairly and with empathy. We pride ourselves on providing a quality and customer sensitive service and it is essential that you can demonstrate impartiality and consistency in dealing with customers.
