Are you a proactive, motivated, and compassionate physician looking to join an innovative and patient-centred Cardiology and Radiology service? At North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, we are welcoming experienced physicians aiming to transform Cardiovascular Care and Imaging to deliver a high standard of patient-centred care. This joint post between the Radiology and Cardiology departments is designed to provide services that meet the demands of the local population, particularly in the development of our MIBI service. Based at Peterborough City Hospital, you will be involved in the general cardiology service across all NWAFT sites and participate in the Consultant of the Week working. As part of your role, you will also collaborate with the Radiology Department to ensure continued service development and the highest quality patient care. You will work alongside a team of highly skilled professionals, including consultants, cardiac physiologists, radiographers, and specialist nurses.
Main duties of the job:
- Lead and provide expert care in Nuclear Medicine, with a focus on advancing Cardiovascular Imaging.
- Play a key role in developing and revitalising our MIBI service.
- Contribute to the delivery of comprehensive cardiology services across all NWAFT sites.
- Participate in the Consultant of the Week rota, including weekend shifts.
- Collaborate closely with the Radiology Department to support the ongoing development of high-quality patient care.
- Drive the growth and expansion of services within the Integrated Care Network.
- Deliver outstanding, patient-centred care while championing innovation and excellence in cardiology and cardiac imaging.
- Contribute to general cardiology services, including outpatient clinics and inpatient ward care.
- Share responsibility for the day-to-day management of the service and participate in strategic planning to ensure the service meets the evolving needs of the local population.
- Engage actively in multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical governance activities.
- Play an active role in teaching, training, and continuing medical education initiatives.
- Organise and support continuing professional development (CPD) for yourself and your team.

Person Specification:
- Audit - Essential: Understanding of basic principles of Audit, evidence based practice and QIP.
- Teaching - Essential: Experience of teaching medical students, doctors in training and other AHPs. Desirable: Experience in organising educational activities. Teaching Course.
- Clinical Governance - Essential: Show engagement with clinical governance and have open approach to learning from mistakes. Show evidence of situational awareness and good decision making. Evidence of making change in practice for patient good.
- Essential: Broad range of experience in cardiology. Ability to offer and be accountable for independent and expert opinion. Demonstrate an interest and commitment to the speciality.
- Qualifications - Essential: MRCP or qualification at an equivalent level. Entry on GMC Specialist Register or be within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or provide GMC eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register. FRCR/FRCP or equivalent qualification. For CMR, the requirements are Level 3 SCMR/EACVI accreditation. At least 12 months of documented experience of independent cardiac reporting is also required. For CT, Level 2 BSCI/SCCT or above. For MIBI, requirement is ARSAC licence holder. Desirable: Postgraduate academic degree. A specialist interest to be agreed to complement those of current staff. Research projects relating to speciality. Publications in recognised Radiology/Cardiology journals.
- Eligibility - Essential: Entry on GMC Specialist Register or be within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or provide GMC eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register.
- Research - Essential: Participation in research. Ability to critically appraise published evidence. Desirable: Published papers and original work in peer reviewed journals.
- Standards - Essential: Comprehensive knowledge of and insight into all domains in GMC Good Medical Practice. Awareness of core values of NHS constitution.
- Fitness to practice - Essential: Evidence of engagement with appraisal and revalidation. Up to date and aware of own training needs.
