Caretaker Salary Scale D5 - D6 £25,583 to £25,989 (pro rata actual £12,100 to £12,292)

Working Hours

All year round, 17.5 hours per week (17 hours 30 minutes per week), Monday to Friday 2.30pm to 6pm. Flexibility required to cover absence.

Job Summary

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, friendly, self‑motivated and conscientious caretaker to join our estates team at North Walsham infant & Junior Schools from September 2026. Start date: Tuesday 1st September 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Duties include carrying out basic maintenance, building repairs and keeping the school and grounds clean, safe and tidy.
  • The role may involve administrative, communication and ICT tasks, and requires a good understanding of legislation and regulatory compliance as it applies to school premises such as Health & Safety, COSHH, asbestos and legionella.

Qualifications

  • Applicants should have experience of working within a caretaker or maintenance role, ideally in a school environment.
  • Good administrative, communication and ICT skills are essential, as well as a good understanding of health and safety, COSHH, asbestos and legionella regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational ability, flexibility and the capacity to work independently and as part of a busy team are required.
  • Personal qualities of approachability, professionalism, flexibility and reliability are paramount.

About the Trust

Broad Horizons Education Trust is a multi‑academy Trust comprising 18 schools across Norfolk, educating 7,500 children and young people and employing nearly 1,200 people.

Additional Information

Successful candidates will be required to complete a declaration form to establish whether they are disqualified under the Childcare (Disqualification) 2009 Regulations and undertake an Enhanced DBS check. Right to work in the UK must be established.
