About the team/Department you will be joining

Positive action refers to a range of measures and initiatives that employers can lawfully take to actively encourage individuals from under‑represented groups to apply for jobs. The Positive Action Team is a small but busy team based within our Human Resources Department, made up of Police Staff and Officers. Our office is based at South Wales Police Headquarters in Bridgend, but we offer a generous hybrid working arrangement and flexi‑time working, which supports a healthy work‑live balance.

About the role and your key responsibilities

  • As the Recruitment Officer you will work closely with our wider recruitment and processing team to promote vacancies and track applications supporting our Positive Action initiatives.
  • You will work closely with potential candidates and community groups to provide guidance and support via a range of different methods.
  • You will work with our partners and key stakeholders to design and implement programmes and processes that support our Positive Action strategy.
  • You will provide advice on key advertising techniques to support our aim to increase under‑representation across the organisation.
  • You will deliver compelling Positive Action presentations.
  • You will manage and coordinate large‑scale recruitment campaigns.

What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role

  • You will understand Positive Action and associated recruitment activity to build a more inclusive and representative workforce.
  • You will either possess a level 3 qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent skills and abilities in Attraction, Engagement and Recruitment.
  • You will have experience of candidate management/applicant tracking systems.
  • You must have excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels and be comfortable presenting to audiences, both internal and external.
  • We would like you to have advanced skills in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel, to be able to collect, analyse and produce statistical reports and communicate them effectively.
  • You will be “tech‑savvy” enough to learn new systems and admin processes with ease.
