Key Role - Major Crime Investigation Team

Applications are invited to experienced investigators for key role positions within the Major Crime Investigation Team.

The role involves investigating serious and complex major crime, working in Major Incident Rooms and, when necessary, the Casualty Bureau.

The main duties include

  • Receiver
  • Action Allocator
  • Reader
  • Exhibits Officer
  • Disclosure Officer
  • CCTV investigation, retrieval, and viewing
  • Statement taking
  • House-to-House enquiries and coordination
  • Additional powers: search premises, seize exhibits, obtain search warrants, interview suspects, apply special warnings, transfer and search of detainees

Other responsibilities

  • Provide weekend and afternoon cover on a rota basis, with pay for shift entitlement.
  • Drive plain vehicles and complete required driver training assessment.

Essential Skills

  • Previous investigative experience.
  • Report writing and casefile preparation.
  • Working knowledge of NICHE.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications.
  • Level 0 and Level 1 College Learn CCTV training package.
  • Working knowledge of Nice Investigate.

Desirable Skills

  • PIP2 accreditation.
  • Working knowledge of HOLMES (training provided).

Qualifications & Vetting

Must be willing to undergo vetting to RV Vetting and meet the essential minimum criteria outlined for the role.
