Counter Terrorism Policing Wales (CTPW) invites applications for the role of Prison Intelligence Officer. An exciting opportunity is available to join the CTPW Prisons Team. Counter Terrorism Policing is a national collaboration of UK police forces working with the UK Intelligence Community to protect the public and national security by preventing, disrupting and investigating terrorist activity.

As a Prison Intelligence Officer, you will develop and manage intelligence from HM Prison Service partners to identify, assess and mitigate threats relating to terrorism, extremism and radicalisation within the prison environment. The role involves conducting intelligence-led investigations, managing threat and risk, and working closely with partner agencies using both overt and covert tactics.

Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to travel to attend prisons across Wales. Travel to prisons elsewhere in the United Kingdom may also be required in support of operations.

Applicants should have experience of working within an intelligence, investigative or similar operational environment and be willing to undertake specialist Counter Terrorism and role-specific training. This position is based in Bridgend.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. However, as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates are currently underrepresented within the Force, we would particularly welcome applications from ethnically diverse candidates. To support the ambition of a diverse workforce, South Wales Place is able to offer a Guaranteed Interview Scheme (GIS). The GIS is available for people living with a disability or identify as ethnically diverse.

If you are an applicant who is living with a disability or from an ethnically diverse background (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) and would like to be considered under the GIS, you must meet the essential minimum criteria for the role as outlined in the advert and role profile. You should take time to evidence that you meet each of the essential criteria in your application form and/or personal statement and CV.

This post requires the successful Candidate to successfully complete vetting to MV/SC and DV Developed Vetting Level. The post will also require the successful completion of an additional security induction process, part of which requires pre-screening checks of nationality and foreign connections. It must be stressed that this is in addition to Force Management Vetting. Candidates must achieve both clearances to take up this post.

Employment within Counter Terrorism Policing requires applicants for the role to undertake a further security induction for which British citizenship is required. Failure to hold citizenship would preclude persons from applying for these positions. CTP Wales actively encourages those from under-represented groups to apply so we can achieve a workforce representative of the communities we serve.

If you require additional information, please contact HR Helpdesk at HR.HELPDESK@south-wales.police.uk who will arrange for a member of the Prisons Team to contact you. We embrace diversity and welcome applications from everyone.
