Overview


Technical Lead Officer – Forensic Management (Counter Terrorism Policing Wales)


We are looking for an experienced professional to support the UK Counter Terrorism Network through the effective coordination of CTPW activity. The role is based in Bridgend and works closely with the CTP West Midlands ISO Management Team.



Responsibilities



  • Provide oversight of quality assurance, quality control and continuous improvement activities across multiple forensic disciplines.

  • Support attainment and ongoing maintenance of ISO/IEC 17020 accreditation and compliance with the Forensic Science Regulators Code of Practice through UKAS assessments.

  • Collaborate with the ISO Lead, FMT Supervisor and wider FMT Team to promote a consistent, compliant and effective approach to accreditation and quality management.

  • Contribute to UKAS assessment projects and extension‑to‑scope activities across forensic disciplines.

  • Maintain professional knowledge of relevant standards and guidance including ISO/IEC 17020 and 17025, the Forensic Science Regulator’s Code of Practice and ILAC-G19.

  • Attend training courses across the UK (up to one week at a time) and travel throughout Wales and occasionally across the UK.

  • Work extended hours during periods of high demand, undertake ad‑hoc weekend work and participate in an on‑call rota.



Qualifications and Requirements



  • Veteran experience in forensic science or related discipline.

  • Successful completion of vetting to MV/SC Level and Developed Vetting (DV).

  • Completion of an additional security induction, including pre‑screening checks of nationality and foreign connections.

  • British citizenship is required.

  • Ability to travel to CTP West Midlands in Birmingham on a regular basis.
