About the team/Department you will be joining

At South Wales Police, our HR Department plays a vital role in supporting our people to deliver a service to the communities we serve. We are a dynamic, forward‑thinking team, committed to providing high‑quality, professional HR support to officers, staff, and managers across the organisation, while promoting wellbeing, development, and continuous improvement. Our HR service brings together a range of specialist teams, including Recruitment, Talent, Reward, Operations & Case Management, Occupational Health, Health & Safety, HR Helpdesk, Shared Services, Workforce Accessibility and Positive Action. Working collaboratively across these areas, we deliver a modern and responsive HR service. At the heart of this is the HR Helpdesk Team, which works closely with teams across HR and wider departments, ensuring colleagues receive timely, accurate advice and support. This is an exciting development role for an aspiring HR professional, providing the opportunity to gain valuable experience within a varied and engaging HR environment.

About the role and key responsibilities

The HR Helpdesk Supervisor plays a key role in overseeing the day‑to‑day operations of the HR Helpdesk, ensuring the efficient and effective handling of enquiries, processes, and escalated queries. The postholder will also lead on Helpdesk‑related projects, monitor trends, produce performance reports, and identify opportunities to improve processes and drive greater efficiency across the service. This role includes direct management of a small team of HR Helpdesk Agents, providing leadership, direction, and ongoing support to ensure high levels of performance and continuous development. The successful candidate will also work closely with colleagues across HR to ensure a co‑ordinated and seamless delivery of HR services.

This post is suitable for job sharing/part‑time workers, and the successful candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC Level.
