About the role
We are looking for an experienced Income Manager to lead our rent recovery, rent collection and money advice services. This is a key leadership role within Finance & Resources, responsible for ensuring that our income services are effective, legally compliant, data-led and focused on achieving positive outcomes for our residents.
You will manage the Income Team and oversee rental income budgets, rent increase processes, affordability reviews, performance reporting, risk registers and legal submissions for court proceedings. You will also play a central role in strengthening our Money Advice service, helping tenants build financial resilience and access the support they need.
About you
You will bring substantial experience in housing income management, credit control, case management and customer service, together with a detailed understanding of arrears recovery, housing law, welfare benefits, court procedures and relevant legislative requirements. You will also have experience of managing people, budgets and financial systems, and will be confident using data to inform decisions and drive improvement.
You will be a positive, resilient and detail-focused leader with strong communication, problem-solving, presentation and relationship-building skills. You will be committed to putting customers at the heart of your work and to leading a team in line with our values: One Team, Trust, Open and Learn.
Essential requirements
- Level 4 Chartered Institute of Housing qualification or equivalent.
- Detailed knowledge of rental income legislation, arrears recovery, possession proceedings, tenancy issues, welfare reform, Housing Benefit and welfare benefits.
- Significant experience of credit control, court hearings, housing services, team management and budget management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, numeracy skills and IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work accurately, meet deadlines, adapt to change and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to pronounce Welsh place names accurately and demonstrate Welsh language ability at Level B1.
- A Basic DBS check is required for this role.
