Further Information
The HIVE Team is looking to recruit a part‑time Maths Teacher to join the Virtual School. The HIVE Team is a multi‑agency team including education, health and emotional wellbeing professionals, working together to get the best outcomes for children and young people. The role will involve working directly with children and young people in care and working more strategically to raise awareness of the needs of children and young people with a social worker or who have been previously in care (adopted, SGO, kinship care). We have seen an increase in the number of Unaccompanied Asylum‑Seeking Children and so an ESOL qualification would also be beneficial.
We have a statutory duty to promote the education of the groups of children listed above and ensure they are attending school, making progress and achieving good outcomes. We work closely with schools to support them to better understand the impact trauma and attachment has on learning and how best to support our pupils. Knowledge of this would be beneficial but training can be provided.
We have a high proportion of pupils with SEND (mainly SEMH) so experience of working with similar pupils would be helpful. Experience of working in multi‑disciplinary teams / settings would help as we work closely with the network around the child and effective communication skills are essential.
The Successful Candidate
Our young people need someone who is an excellent teacher with the ability to engage and motivate them to achieve their best outcomes. We\’re looking for someone who can build trusting relationships, be patient and use gentle humour to make sessions enjoyable and accessible for our children and young people.
