The SEND Support Service is responsible for maintaining the Education Health and Care Plans (EHCP) for over 2600 children and young people. We are seeking a Senior SEND Officer to lead one of the workstreams the service is responsible for. You will lead a team of enthusiastic and committed SEND officers and EHC Plan Writers and will support the development of the service.

Core Responsibilities

  • The team are responsible for the statutory assessment and review of children and young people's EHCPs.
  • The successful candidate will lead their team to work proactively with parents, young people, schools and other relevant professionals to secure best outcomes for children and young people.
  • The successful candidate will build effective relationships and will have a proven track record of effective communication with parents, children and young people.
  • They will offer appropriate support and challenge to colleagues and partners to secure best outcomes for children and young people.
  • The successful candidate will have a good knowledge and understanding of local authority statutory responsibilities, including a working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
  • They will have excellent organisational skills and will coordinate a team working towards service improvement.
  • They will be familiar with understanding and presenting data and can utilise this to deliver service improvement.
