The predicted salary is between 43200 - 72000 £ per year.

Due to an internal promotion this is a rare opportunity to join a forward-thinking large dynamic organisation and to join a Finance Team with a commitment to continuous service improvement in support of the Council\’s strategic objectives. We are looking to appoint an exceptionally experienced and skilled accountant to fulfil the role of Principal Accountant within the Financial Management service. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, the postholder will provide sound financial management support to the Economy and Place Directorate including City Services in addition to having a lead finance role to the City Councils wholly owned development company.

The Siglion Group is made up of an ambitious development company and investment company, set up to carry out a 20-year regeneration programme which will support the transformation of Sunderland through major development at the key sites including Vaux/Riverside Sunderland, Potters Hill and Seaburn, whilst the investment company holds a portfolio of strategic assets. This is not an ordinary accountancy role the successful candidate will play a key part in providing financial management and support to the company and its Board.

The successful candidate must be capable of providing financial leadership and sound financial advice and guidance in a large dynamic organisation. In addition, the successful candidate must be capable of providing support in a commercially focused organisation and must have the ability to understand technical financial reporting requirements alongside project development, appraisal and support.

The ability to consider complex scenarios and work through their financial implications in addition to excellent communication skills are a must, as is the ability to foster productive and inclusive working relationships within the Finance Service, Siglion, and the wider Council.

You will be joining a finance team that is well regarded internally and externally, and a Council with a renewed focus to lead the City forward.
