Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen in North Tyneside Council\’s Housing Income Team, for the position of Income Officer. You will be responsible for a range of accounts and deliver services to achieve performance targets, whilst achieving the highest level of customer satisfaction. This is a challenging and performance‑driven role, which plays an important part in maximising income and maintaining the Housing Revenue Account. As an Income Officer you will carry out a variety of duties, including working with both current and former tenants to maximise income collection, maintaining and processing direct debit payments, collecting sundry debts relating to council tenancies and invoicing and collecting re‑chargeable repairs. You should also have working knowledge of universal credit and welfare benefits. Responsibilities
In daily contact with customers, helping them resolve housing debt or tenancy related issues. The successful applicant will be proactive and highly motivated with experience of working in a target driven environment, ideally gained by working in a social housing, finance or property management role. You will need to demonstrate experience of delivering excellent customer service, with strong communication skills, good negotiation skills and a proven track record of meeting targets. You will also be expected to offer a balance between enforcement and support in all areas of the recovery process.
Qualifications
Experience of delivering excellent customer service, strong communication and negotiation skills, a proven track record of meeting targets, a can‑do attitude and excellent problem‑solving skills. Familiarity with universal credit and welfare benefits and experience in a target‑driven environment are essential.
