North Tyneside Council are recruiting qualified Education Mental Health Practitioners to join our Connect Mental Health Support Team. The Connect Mental Health Support Team is part of the development of our mental health and emotional wellbeing offer across the council. As an Education Mental Health Practitioner, you will be expected to work as part of a dynamic mental health support team in a creative environment where evidence‑based interventions are actively encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely alongside a team of mental health professionals delivering a wide range of evidence‑informed interventions.
  • Practice evidence‑based skills to work directly with children, young people, and families.
  • Practice evidence‑based skills to carry out holistic, child‑centred mental‑health assessments, including risk assessments.
  • Provide advice and guidance to school staff and work closely with Senior Mental Health Leads in schools.

Qualifications

  • Successfully completed training as an Education Mental Health Practitioner.
  • Experience of working effectively with children, young people, their families, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience of working and liaising with a wide variety of agencies and stakeholders.
  • Experience of working effectively with children and young people who have social, emotional and/or mental health difficulties.
  • Experience of delivering Whole School Approach activities to promote emotional wellbeing in schools.
