As part of a central team within Education North Tyneside, we are looking to appoint a specialist sensory support assistant to join our peripatetic team. We support children with hearing and visual impairment in schools and settings across North Tyneside. The team works with children from school age to adulthood and can support from Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to Key Stage 4. Experience of working with sensory impaired children is desirable but not essential; full training will be provided to the successful candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Work across a range of age groups and education settings throughout North Tyneside.
  • Collaborate as part of a team and travel between settings to support children and young people in their school environment.
  • Engage in a full induction and participate in a supported professional development programme to undertake the full duties and responsibilities of the role.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Interest and/or experience in working with sensory impaired children is desirable, with provision of full training for the successful candidate.
  • A commitment to continuing professional development and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel between settings and work with/in schools and settings across North Tyneside.
  • Successful enhanced DBS clearance is required.
